The album is set for release on 30 January via PAN.

Musician and vocalist Evita Manji has announced details of their debut album, Spandrel?. The 10-track release follows on from the launch of their own platform myxoxym in 2021 through which they released two of the singles which feature on Spandrel?. Manji’s sound draws together contemporary club, baroque–pop and experimental sound design to explore and examine their relationship with the world.

In addition to their solo output, Manji has also collaborated with a range of different artists. They recently worked on a fundraiser compilation Plasmodium I for Greek wildlife fund ANIMA which featured contributions from the likes of Rainy Miller, Palmistry and Cecile Believe.

Manji is also part of the 2022 SHAPE+ cohort and as part of this performed at European festivals including Unsound, Lunchmeat and Rhizom. Other artists on this year’s SHAPE+ roster include Catalan musician Marina Herlop – whose album Pripyat featured in our Top 50 Albums of 2022 – experimental artist Ale Hop, NZIRIA, ABADIR, Lisbon-based duo 7777 の天使 and multi-disciplinary creative Bella Báguena.

SHAPE+ builds on the SHAPE Platform’s previous iterations with a focus for 2022 and onwards on residencies and greener forms of travel where possible. SHAPE+ is comprised of 13 festivals in Europe, including CTM Festival, Unsound and Terraforma Festival, and focuses on supporting innovative music and audiovisual arts.

Earlier this year we hosted a SHAPE Platform video and audio takeover. As part of this, we featured live performances from Mathile Fernandez – one half of Ascendent Vierge with Casual Gabberz’ Paul Seul – Shapednoise and Joanna Hedva. This also included a drone-filmed performance of one of Riccardo La Foresta’s Drummophone sessions and a collaboration between KMRU and Marcus Heckmann. On the audio side, there were mixes from the likes of TTristana, Grand River, Heith and Nazar.
