The recordings are from key festivals and concerts that took place in 2021 and 2022.

REMAIIN – which stands for Radical European Music and its Intercultural Nature – has shared four live recordings from its festival and concert series. These audio archives summarise the project, which investigates the impact and influence of non-European music and culture on experimental and avant-garde music across time. This is presented primarily via a series of concerts, essays and lectures.

The four concerts documented in these audio recordings were broadcast on London’s Resonance FM and are now available to listen back to online. The series of recordings includes Kenyan experimental grindcore duo Duma, from their 2021 performance at Skaņu Mežs festival in Riga, Latvia. There’s also Senegal’s Wau Wau Collectif at Sonic City in Belgium, where the avant-garde collective performed last year.

The other two recordings feature the Rolf Julius tribute concertorganised by Berlin concert series Kontraklang and performed by the Maulwerker ensemble, Michael Moser and Miki Yui – as well as two separate performances from the 2021 edition of Portugal’s OUT.FEST. The latter recording is comprised of a performance by Hungarian experimental artist Gosheven and a presentation of Éliane Radigue’s music by violinist Julia Eckhardt and percussionist Enrico Malatesta.

Head to the REMAIIN website to find out more information about the project – which is co-funded by the EU’s Creative Europe programme.
