Slauson Malone 1, Nihiloxica and Armand Hammer confirmed for Le Guess Who?

The Dutch festival has announced its first names for this year.

Le Guess Who? returns to Utrecht for its 16th edition, set to take place from 9-12 November. The four guest curators have been revealed, with programmes curated by Heba Kadry, Nala Sinephro, Slauson Malone 1 and Stereolab at the forthcoming event.

For his programme, Slauson Malone 1 – the project of New York-based musician Jasper Marsalis – will host a line-up featuring rapper MIKE, black midi performing The Beatles and multidisciplinary artist Ebun Sodipo. Marsalis has also invited new Lisbon supergroup O Ghettão – featuring Príncipe-affiliated artists DJ Nigga Fox, DJ Danifox and DJ Firmeza – to perform as well as the likes of Richard Dawson, LA Timpa, MHYSA and Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’Malley.

Elsewhere, Stereolab curate a bill with Yama Warashi, Moin, Kali Malone and Moor Mother-fronted free jazz group Irreversible Entanglements all set to perform. For Heba Kadry’s curation, the Egyptian, Brooklyn-based mastering engineer has selected artists including Deena Abdelwahed, Vessel, El Kontessa and a collaboration between ZULI and audiovisual artist Omar El Sadek. Whilst composer, producer, and musician Nala Sinephro welcomes aya, Crystallmess, Model/Actriz, Shy One and Zakia as part of her programme.

Elsewhere, Le Guess Who? has also revealed details of its general programme. Artists confirmed to play include Nihiloxica, Damsel Elysium, Armand Hammer, Backxwash and Rachika Nayar. There’s also Ale Hop in collaboration with Laura Robles as well as new collaborative duo Decisive Pink – aka the project of Kate NV and Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian.

Le Guess Who? also works with The Dutch Council for Refugees, Buddy to Buddy and NewBees on their ‘Grant an Entry’ initiative which offers visitors the option to buy an additional day ticket for newcomers living in The Netherlands who would like to attend the festival but don’t have the financial means to.
