Set to return to Bristol for its 11th edition in collaboration with Crack Magazine, Team Love and Bristol Beacon, independent festival Simple Things has completed the line-up for its main festival day on Saturday, 8 November.
Taking centre stage at Bristol Beacon Hall in the afternoon, Simple Things’ announcement sees very special guest Nala Sinephro make her Simple Things debut. After taking the avant-jazz world by storm with her critically acclaimed album Endlessness, the London-based composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist is poised to deliver one of the day’s most transportive sets.
Closing out Bristol Beacon Hall is long-time Simple Things affiliate The Bug with a full MC roll-out featuring former Crack Magazine cover star Flowdan, Warrior Queen, Manga St Hilaire, Logan and Magagu.
Other names joining the line-up include long-time Warp Records affiliate and cerebral electronic producer Clark, and former Crack Magazine cover star Blackhaine, who is set to bring his visceral explorations of working-class identity and experimental sound to this year’s event.
Occupying the ethereal space, Jadu Heart’s dreamlike vocals and hazy electronics are set for an immersive performance, as well as rich and soulful textures from former Crack Magazine cover star KeiyaA. Performing in the depths of the Beacon, Aya joins the line-up for a DJ set, a must-see for fans of their much-lauded new album, hexed!.
Six-time World Snooker Champion, now turned analogue synth enthusiast, DJ and Bristol resident Steve Davis has also revealed his curated line-up of acts – Graham Dunning and Strictly Kev (AKA DJ Food), jb glazer & Sculpture.
Other newly announced artists include Adult DVD, Eiko Ishibashi, Fatboi Sharif, HAAL, Lea Sen, Pan Amsterdam, Run Logan Run, TEKE::TEKE, Vlure, and more.
Simple Things’ week-long programme is now complete, with five standalone shows taking place in the week before the main festival day. These shows include Moin (4 November), John Maus (5 November), Autechre (6 November), Daniel Avery (7 November), and Joep Beving (9 November).
As ever, Simple Things will host a nighttime programme with several specially selected afterparties, which will be announced at the end of summer.
