Montreal-based synth artist, producer and multi-lingual storyteller Marie Davidson has announced that she will be retiring from club music next month.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Davidson revealed that “the day has come for me to depart from the club scene to explore new horizons.” The musician continued, “It’s with a lot of emotions that I present to you my last party playing live hardware club music.” Davidson’s ‘final’ show will take place on 20 September as part of Red Bull’s Music Festival in Montreal.

The Ninja Tune-signed artist has previously spoken on what she perceives to be the ‘toxicity’ of club culture and the impact that this has had on her mental and physical wellbeing. Davidson has also addressed this through 2016’s Adieux Au Dancefloor, and last Autumn’s Working Class Woman. Earlier this month Davidson released a track she refered to as her ‘final effort regarding club music.’
