It’s no secret that Paris’s dance music scene has hit a purple patch.

With a wealth of rising producers, labels and tastemaking DJs, the future looks bright for electronic music in the French capital. Representing the flourishing health of the scene, this year’s Weather is bigger than ever: the Paris festival’s expanded third edition looks to draw attendances up to 50,000, with organisers splitting the party into two strands, ‘off’ and ‘on’, over two weeks.

Though the location for the main event is yet to be revealed, it’s safe to say it’ll get sweaty regardless. Across four main stages themed around the seasons, Weather will host live shows from the likes of Mr G, Blawan, Karenn, Seven Davis Jr, Xosar, Steevio & Suzybee and Matthew Herbert, plus DJ sets from Ricardo Villalobos, Zip, Robert Hood, Ben Klock and Cassy.

Alongside staples of the Parisian scene, king size techno from the Berghain bastions and a selection of Detroit founding fathers, attendees will also be treated to a host of festival exclusives. Weather have hooked up an enviable array of collaborations, many of them debut performances created for the event. Check out our must see link ups below.

Derrick May + Dzijan Emin

The main event launches on Thursday with a very special show from Derrick May. Taking place in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, the Detroit hero is appearing live alongside jazz keyboardist Dzijan Emin, who will be leading The Orchestre Lamoureux and its 60 classically trained musicians alongside pianist Francesco Tristano. This fusion of electronic and classical music is not to be missed.

Vatican Shadow + Ron Morelli + Low Jack

This meeting of grubby machine electronics is sure to be a weekend highlight. Fittingly placed on the ‘winter’ stage, the debut live collaboration from the L.I.E.S. boss, Dominick Fernow’s politically charged project and the ascendant French producer will cement their status as purveyors of dark, industrial, and generally nasty vibes.

DVS1 + Rödhåd

There are plenty of high profile back-to-backs to shout about over the course of the weekend, including the inimitable Four Tet and Floating Points as well as disco kingpins Motor City Drum Ensemble and Marcellus Pittman. Our tip is the tag team excursion from two Berlin stalwarts; Berghain favourite DVS1 and Dystopian’s unstoppable force Rödhåd. Catch them bulldoze their way through the autumn stage on Saturday.

Adventice (DJ Deep + Roman Poncet)

Yet another debut live performance, this time veteran Parisian selector and Deeply Rooted House boss DJ Deep teams up with rising producer Roman Poncet. While Deep has been establishing his rough, groove-laced sound for over a decade now, Poncent’s pumping, powerful techno is just finding wider audiences. This set might help propel him even further into the limelight.

Unforeseen Alliance

Zadig’s emerging Construct Re-Form label cherry picks releases from a tight knit crew of producers dedicated to pushing Paris’s techno scene forward. Taking the name from its release series, Unforeseen Alliance is made up of a selection of label regulars; Zadig, Antigone, Birth of Frequency and L.I.E.S. affiliate Voiski, who has been making waves recently with his own immersive live set. Expect high octane techno with tons of raw energy.

Weather festival takes place 4 – 7 June in Bois de Vincennes, Paris. For tickets and more information head here.
