“New York City, baby!”

Former Crack Magazine cover stars Yeah Yeah Yeahs joined the definitive New York City band, The Strokes last night (25 August) at All Points East with sets that felt historic and energised. Journeying through hits and distilling the cultural moment which has seen renewed interest since Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern’s documentary Meet Me In The Bathroom, based on the book of the same name.

Complete with DJ sets from noughties archivist @indiesleaze, we were transported to a world of angular eyeliner, American Apparel hoodies and digital cameras with the flash on.

Beyond nostalgia, both The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs showed just how timeless their catalogues are with performances that felt present and in-the-moment. Karen O poignantly dedicated Maps to Sinead O’Connor while The Strokes’ lasting influence could be felt through the lineup with bands like Black Midi and Amyl and the Sniffers.
