This year’s Glastonbury was another lawless, gleeful triumph

Aside from the obligatory rain (and subsequent mudbaths), this year’s Glastonbury was overshadowed by another mood-threatening cloud: Brexit. The overwhelmingly left-leaning crowd at Glasto mourned the referendum result en masse, but eventually the good vibes prevailed, and all was well at Worthy Farm.

As we traipsed around the unbelievably boggy site we saw things we’ve never seen before and will never see again, stumbled over some incredible live performances and, of course, witnessed the usual scenes of gleeful, weekend abandon.

In spite of all the gloom Silver Hayes kept dancing, The Park provided some lucid live music memories and the Stone Circle was as lawless as ever. It just goes to show that nothing can kill the buzz that Glastonbury generates.

The Pyramid stage, with all its looming history, provided a platform for those three huge headliners as well as Skepta’s incredible Glasto debut. Elsewhere we caught Grimes turn The Park stage on its head, Savages searing through the smog on the same platform and a slew of great DJs at On Loop.
