unfold: re:ni at Protein Studios, London

We recently kicked off unfold in partnership with Japanese beer brand Asahi Super Dry, a series of four events celebrating innovative strands in Japanese underground electronic music. Tickets are free, you just have to sign-up.

The tour kicked off in London at Protein Studios in Shoreditch. One room housed ORION – an audiovisual art installation by Japan-France art studio NONOTAK. In our main-room three leading DJs in contemporary electronic music provided an immersive soundtrack that kept people dancing. Get a taste for the party here.

London-based DJ re:ni is one of the fastest-rising selectors in the UK, managing to skilfully blend leftfield house and techno with more cutting, rhythmic cuts from the worlds of drum’n’bass, breakbeat and garage. Her recent Crack Mix was one of the best-received we’ve put out in a while so we were super excited to welcome her to the first Unfold party. This two-hour warm-up set serves as a perfect introduction to her distinctive and precise approach.

We’ll be in Manchester at the White Hotel on 25 May with DJ Fulltono and Kode9, then the tour closes in Leeds on 7 May with Andrew Weatherall and Kenji Takimi. Sign up for free tickets here.
