Selections: Félicia Atkinson

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

Félicia Atkinson is multi-disciplinary artist working across music, visual art and the written word. The French artist’s work with Sheltered Press is dedicated to encouraging conversation between these mediums and, musically in particular, is often a space for artists to toy with abstraction (see Gabor Lazar’s Crisis of Representation by way of example).

Her own music is resolutely abstract, direct and challenging, though not without ample beauty and poise, and her playlist for us speaks to a similar set of directives. Keen to let the music speak for itself, she describes the playlist simply: “This is my playlist of tracks that I’m loving as I get ready for Semibreve Festival this year,” she said over email. “[It’s] called ‘Through the bus window, I passed a city I’ll never know.'”

Felicia Atkinson plays Semibreve Festival, 25 – 27 October, Braga
