Selections: Kelly Lee Owens

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

Kelly Lee Owens creates music which inhabits a unique space: left-field techno melded with warm pop tones that’s floor-focused, introspective and melodic, while her voice wields a potent, human anchor.

Owens’ emergence on the scene was heralded by her inclusion on Daniel Avery’s Drone Logic and last year saw the producer release her self-titled debut via Smalltown Supersound. Since then, she’s been on an upward trajectory and fielding a packed tour schedule. We’re hyped, then, that she found the time to create this exclusive playlist comprised of stomping techno old and new, meditative textures from Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Boards of Canada, as well as stranger cuts from Andy Stott and Laurel Halo. A humid, seasonally appropriate playlist that builds up towards the night.

Kelly Lee Owens plays at Farr Festival, Hertfordshire, 5-8 July
