Boygenius announce debut UK gigs

Boygenius - Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker

The supergroup trio will also be joined by Ethel Cain and MUNA.

Boygenius – aka the group formed of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus – has announced their debut UK shows. This summer will see the trio play an outdoor London gig in Gunnersbury Park on 20 August which will also feature performances from MUNA and former Crack Magazine cover star Ethel Cain – whose debut album Preacher’s Daughter was crowned our 2022 album of the year. Cain will also join Boygenius for their second UK show which will take place in Halifax at The Piece Hall.

The trio’s debut UK shows follow on from the recent announcement of their debut album. Last month, Boygenius released three singles, each of which was written and performed by a different member of the group – with $20 by Baker, Emily I’m Sorry by Bridgers and True Blue by Dacus. Their album, entitled The Record is due out on 31 March via Interscope Records. In a Rolling Stone interview with the trio – which saw them recreate the iconic 1994 Nirvana cover – it was revealed that Kristen Stewart is set to direct three music videos for the group.

Back in 2018, Boygenius released their self-produced, self-titled EP which rapidly garnered them a cult following. The trio were recently also announced for a performance at Coachella, which sparked rumours about their much-anticipated return. Tickets for Boygenius’ two UK dates will go on sale at 10am (GMT) on 3 March.

Bridgers recently featured on SZA’s new album S.O.S., lending her vocals on Ghost in the Machine. She’s also set to star in the forthcoming A24 film I Saw The TV Glow – which is directed by Jane Schoenbrun and also features Snail Mail’s Lindsay Jordan, Kris Esfandiari – who fronts King Woman and played the protagonist in Boy Harsher’s The Runner – and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst.
