I came to slay, bitch!” is perhaps the most iconic moment on Beyoncé’s 2016 single Formation, and we have Big Freedia to thank for that.

The New Orleans artist is best known for her contribution to the underground bounce music movement in the early 90s. But she’s been keeping it tight since then with five studio albums of her own, collaborations with Queen Bey and Drake and recognition for her work in the LGBTQ+ community. A queen of hip-hop in her own right, we talk to Big Freedia about all the experiences that have made her an unstoppable force.
