Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

2020 was a landmark year for Tunisian producer Azu Tiwaline. Between her debut album Draw Me a Silence, released via French imprint I.O.T Records, and her Magnetic Service EP for much-loved Bristol imprint Livity Sound, the artist spent much of the year guiding curious new listeners through her rich and polyrhythmic soundscapes; realms in which UK club music, organic textures and traditional North African styles came together to form mesmerising statements of intent.

In September, we caught up with Tiwaline as part of an anniversary feature celebrating ten years of Livity Sound. Speaking on what she loved about the label, she told us she was drawn to its spirit, as well as the way its releases – and roster – bridge heavier, bass-rooted elements with techno. It’s an approach Tiwaline takes when crafting her own music and remixes too, with the likes of Scalping, Flore and Nicola Cruz tapping her for reimaginations in recent months.

For her Selections playlist, Tiwaline pulls together dynamic tracks and kinetic club cuts from a number of artists joining her on the bill at this year’s Positive Education Festival. Speaking on her choices over email, Tiwaline said: “Few festivals have an artistic proposition so close to my somewhat strange or not necessarily ‘easy’ tastes. For that alone, Positive Education is really one of my favourite ones in terms of music programming. The idea of this tracklist is simply to share some tracks from the producers present at this edition that I particularly like”.
