Independent festival Field Maneuvers hosted one last dance for its 11th – and what was intended to be last – edition, ultimately convincing organisers to bring it back next year.
Field Maneuvers returned to Norfolk for its 11th edition from 16-18 August this year, with a programme that pulled in plenty of crowd-pleasers whilst honouring its underground roots.
Standout performances came from Angel D’Lite, Deena Abdelwahed, Metrist, Ben Sims b2b Josey Rebelle and Rinse FM resident LCY, as well as a memorable Sunday closing set from HAAi b2b Jennifer Cardini. We saw stage takeovers from the likes of Dalston Superstore and Dialled In, and outside of the music, enjoyed a zine-making workshop with Hate Zine, speed dating with Pears, and UHaul Dyke Rescue‘s Mobile Dyke Bar.
A commitment to community and underground music has guided Field Maneuvers’ growth, and this year’s event underlined its presence as one of the few festivals dedicated to preserving an independent ethos. The crowd appreciated it, and by Sunday, chants of “One more year!” were heard reverberating through the site. Despite plans to close the chapter on its current form after 11 editions, the festival has now announced it will return next year: “You’ve given us the confidence to go again”.
