Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

When Goat Girl released their second album On All Fours in 2021, the London four-piece described the record’s creation as “an incredible and fulfilling journey, with laughter, tears and a good deal of insanity thrown in”.

A natural continuation of the ideas put forth on their acclaimed self-titled debut – think satirical lyricism upon a bed of psych-tinged post-punk – On All Fours captured this journey in vivid detail. It brimmed with confidence, and saw the band (made up of members Lottie Cream, L.E.D, Rosy Bones, and Holly Hole – stage names, in case you were curious) exploring electronic music more consciously than ever before.

For their Buy Music Club playlist, Goat Girl shine a light on some of the “more quietly-sung artists” whose music has had a profound effect on them in recent times, along with other tracks they’ve been spinning by friends and artists they admire. Speaking on her picks, which range from Bristol’s Tara Clerkin Trio through to a pair of tracks (I’ll Be Your Eyes and One More Time) that were released via Music in Exile – “one of my favourite labels” – L.E.D says they highlight an “infinite love for a zesty groove – and the saxophone”.

Elsewhere, Lottie Cream’s choices showcase Goat Girl’s wide field of interests as they move through experimental hip-hop, woozy electronic music and more. The playlist is rounded off by a plethora of “lo-fi and leftfield [tunes] with brilliant pop melodies at their core,” as chosen by Holly Hole. Expect music from the likes of SUEP, Pet Grotesque and piglet.
