Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

Over the past few years, Bakey has been making waves in the resurgent UKG scene. The London-born and now Leeds-based DJ and producer – real name Freddie Baker – co-produced Cookie, a collaborative track with rapper BNC Javen, at 17 years old and has gone from strength-to-strength ever since. He played Keep Hush for Dr. Dubplate’s birthday earlier this year and has released a string of solo EPs including two on Timeisnow.

Both Bakey’s own productions and dancefloor selections tap into a dark, warped fusion of breakbeats, dub and bassline. This is also the energy Bakey brings for our latest Selections playlist – fuelled by skittering breaks, heady jungle cuts and soulful, melodic highs.

Ahead of playing new multi-venue day party Transmissions from Hackney tomorrow, Bakey comes through with the weekend-ready selections which he describes as “a random assortment of different styles, but all tracks I’ve been really loving and found quite inspiring”. Get locked in below.

Transmissions from Hackney takes place across Hackney Wick on 15 October.
