HAAi curates a soothing playlist of ambient and meditative music

Australian DJ and producer HAAi has always favoured a more eclectic way of life. The London-based artist cut her teeth as part of psychedelic rock band Dark Bells before later turning her attention to more electronic stylings and peak-time rhythms. Residencies at London hotspots such as Ridley Road Market Bar and Brixton’s Phonox earned her a reputation for behind-the-decks wizardry, with the playful selector dishing out rare gems, dancefloor ammo and warped sets much to the delight of loyal and returning revellers.

With all this in mind, it’s no wonder that HAAi’s productions and releases – including her 2022 full-length debut, Baby, We’re Ascending – are equally as euphoric as any one of her sets. Baby, We’re Ascending, most notably, melded hypnotic vocal lines with frantic, pounding grooves as it captured the essence of a night at the club while also harking back to former chapters in HAAi’s musical story thus far.

Her Buy Music Club playlist – shared ahead of an appearance at Secret Project Festival at this year’s ADE – finds HAAi switching out the grooves for more ambient selections from the likes of Nala Sinephro, Jeff Parker and more. “This here playlist is a break away from my usual peak-time club and festival tracks,” she tells Crack Magazine. “This is one for when you’ve finished the weekend and need to wind down in bed and relax your mind. Be gentle on yourselves this fall on the other side of the party. We’re all getting back into the swing of it, so I hope this playlist of ambient and meditative music helps you wind all the way down into a peaceful slumber. Night night!”
