DJ Skrillz

As J Hus’ tour DJ and a crucial player in Hus and co’s Young Boss Entertainment collective, DJ Skrillz is well equipped to get a party going. So much so, that a recent J Hus live show prompted an actual real life roadblock.

The buzz surrounding J Hus and his irresistible brand of afrobeat-infused UK pop is growing every day. Samantha, his one-off collaboration with Drake’s favourite young MC Dave is sitting on 5 million YouTube views. Hus’ hook on Bad Boys – a standout cut from the Stormzy’s Gang Signs & Prayer – is still setting the timeline on fire.

People are hungry for the album and this new development in British commercial music is getting critics, record labels, but most importantly fans, incredibly excited. “The ‘New London Sound’ is very fresh and different but at the same time authentic.” Skrillz says, speaking about the music which makes up a bulk of this whirlwind mix, “There are a lot of melodies and hooks in the tracks which was slightly frowned upon when it started emerging. Later, it became acceptable and started getting described as “wavey”. You have to merge being wavey and raw at the same time.”

Across 50 minutes and 55 tracks ranging from chart-topping US trap through to emergent young London talent, Skrillz presents a high-octane snapshot into the crowd-pleasing wave J Hus is riding. In his words, “Being around so much good energy always reminds us why we chose this lifestyle.” Hit play and lock in.
