Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

Since it formed in 2018, grassroots ball series Vogue Rites has grown to be London’s biggest ballroom nights.

Continuing the long tradition of ballroom, which emerged in the mid-19th century from Black and Latinx members of the LGBTQI+ community, the collective provides an inclusive and intentional space that prioritises and uplifts LGBTQI+ people of colour in the city, celebrating music, movement and expression with electrifying shows in the process. Next, they’re set to takeover the Roundhouse as part of this year’s Roundhouse Three Sixty Programme.

To get us hyped, ballroom DJ Kartel Brown of the House of West, co-founder Vogue Rites, selects 20 tracks that capture the energy of the collective, and the spirit of ballroom.

Vogue Rites: Face The Music Ball will take place at London’s Roundhouse on Wednesday 9 April.
